LPGA TOUR Pro Angela Jerman Teamed Up with Dermik Laboratories During Melanoma Month to Benefit The Women's Dermatologic Society, Help Educate Americans about Sun Exposure & Skin Health

BERWYN, PA — July 7, 2005 — Third year LPGA TOUR professional Angela Jerman teamed up with Dermik Laboratories during the month of May to remind consumers about the need for proper skin protection and forming good skin health habits. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) has designated May as Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, with the first Monday in May designated as Melanoma Monday or "National Skin Self-Examination Day." Melanoma Monday kicks off the AAD program designed to raise awareness about skin health and encourage Americans to begin a life long habit of regular skin self-examinations. Dermik Laboratories will make a donation of $5,000 to The Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS) based on Angela's performance in LPGA Tour events during the month of May (a matching contribution of $5,000 will also be made to Jerman's charity of choice, the First Tee of Columbus, Georgia). The money donated by Dermik will be used to benefit WDS skin cancer screening and prevention initiatives as well as patient education.

"Our profession puts us at a higher risk of sun-related conditions due to sun exposure," said Angela Jerman, LPGA TOUR golf professional. "I am hoping we can raise awareness among the millions of American golf enthusiasts about the dangers of sun exposure and the steps they can take to minimize their risk. An additional goal of the program is to encourage the local community to be proactive about their skin health and go to see a dermatologist for a regular check-up."

During the month of May, Dermik Laboratories accumulated a donation to The Women's Dermatologic Society based on Angela's performance. Dermik pledged to donate $250 for every birdie, $500 for each eagle and $10,000 for every hole-in-one Angela made in competition during the month of May. Angela played in four events during May: the Michelob Ultra Open, the Chick-Fil-A Charity Championship, the Sybase Classic and the LPGA Corning Classic. Angela will also be working with the WDS at selected LPGA events in 2005 as their spokesperson for the "Play Safe in the Sun" campaign, a program designed to educate the golf community about skin cancer prevention and sun protection. This campaign is a part of the American Academy of Dermatology National Skin Cancer Volunteer Screening Initiative.
