ROSACEA

Comparing Rosacea and Acne

Acne occurs most often in teenagers and young adults. Rosacea usually strikes after the acne-prone years. Both acne and rosacea appear on the face; however, acne may also appear on the chest and back.

Acne pimples are varied and include blackheads, whiteheads, and small or large cysts, while the blemishes associated with rosacea are generally small, pimple-like bumps. Both are associated with redness and swelling, but rosacea is also characterized by tiny, visible blood vessels in the surface of the skin.

Speak with your doctor about any skin blemishes about which you are uncertain.
